Children's Ministry

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..."

Matthew 19:14

Ministry Purpose and Vision: Teaching children, through the Word of God and through Worship, to know God intimately, love God passionately, and serve God selflessly.

Serving Nursery through 6th Grade Children

Sunday School: Sunday School takes place each Sunday between 8:45-10:00 am and 10:45-12:00 pm. Preschool through 6th grade children stay with their parents for the start of each service, and approximately 15 minutes later are dismissed to their Sunday School class, immediately following announcements. Wall maps and door signs in the Sunday School classroom areas indicate the grade level for each classroom.

Nursery: During Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services, parents may take children to the Nursery room, (located near the front entry door), a few minutes before services start, or any time after services begin. (For all non-potty trained children) The Nursery is equipped with playpens, rockers, safety swings, a changing table, many toys, and a parent paging system for both the comfort and safety of children and parents during the worship Services. (Please refrain from leaving sick children in the Nursery due to the likelihood of contamination.)

Sunday School Curriculum: It is our desire to present the Gospel, beginning in Genesis, to all children, and to train them to know, obey, and defend God’s Word. From the span of Kindergarten through 6th grade, the material being taught is designed and written to provide answers to the questions and issues that confront children in school, in the media, from friends, etc. providing them not only with what is believed, but why it is believed. The Elementary age curriculum has been developed by Answers In Genesis, an apologetics ministry, dedicated to helping believers defend their faith and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ effectively. And Preschool age children are exposed to timeless and foundational stories and lessons in God’s Word. All classes also include a variety of fun activities that support and reinforce the biblical lessons.

Wednesday Evening Service: Classes and child care are both available on Wednesday evenings during the adult Service, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Nursery, preschool, and elementary ages are welcome through grade 6. The programs are similar to those for Sunday School, a combination of biblical learning and fun activities.

Other Activities: Several other activities during the year give the children an opportunity to put faith to action and just have fun in safe and Christ centered environments: Family Camp, Vacation Bible School, Holiday Plays, Mission Projects, Convalescent Hospital visits, etc.

Security/Safety: Each of our teacher volunteers and helpers are interviewed by, and known by, a member of the pastoral staff. Each is required (if 18 or over) to undergo background screening, through both state and federal “live-scan” fingerprint checks for national criminal history. Several staff and volunteers are trained and certified in First Aid/CPR. First aid kits are located within each classroom, in addition to advanced kits located in two strategic storage areas.
Nursery age children are each assigned a paging number corresponding with their names as provided by their parents on the classroom “sign-in sheets”, when dropped off at their respective classes. Parents can be visually paged (silently) in the sanctuary through the electronic paging system, should the need arise.
